Inspired to Run

A Bristol family whose lives have been touched by cancer are taking part in a 5km charity run to support research into the disease.

Richard Cecil, who’s 62 from Horfield, will be taking part in the 2009 Run for the Future with his sons to raise funds for the Bristol Urological Institute’s Prostate Cancer Appeal.

Richard, who lost his mother and sister to cancer, was persuaded to take part in the Bristol Rotary organised event by his wife Margaret, who lost her first husband to the disease.

She has taken part in the woman only Race for Life and thought the men in the family should do their bit.

Richard, whose first wife died six year’s ago after a heart attack, will be joined by his son Matt and brother in law Trevor Ingram, who’s daughter also died from cancer. Margaret’s sons, Jeff and Mike Fudge, will also be running in the event.

This year’s Run for the Future, which is sponsored by Spire Hospital,
takes place on the Downs in Bristol on Sunday, 20 September. For further information, or to register, visit www.runforthefuture.org or ring the Run for the Future Office on 0117 959 6328.
