A Frank Approach

A Frank Approach!

People taking part in this year’s Run for the Future in the West of England in aid of prostate cancer research will also be helping fund life saving projects around the world - simply by taking a sip of water!

Participants in the 5km event, which is being held on the Downs in Bristol on 16 September, will be provided with refreshments by Frank Water, whose slogan is ‘drink water, save lives”.

Frank Water was set up in Bristol two years ago to help fund clean water projects in developing countries and currently has three projects starting in India to provide clear water to more than 18,000 people.

Run for the Future is organised by Bristol Rotarians to support the Bristol Urological Institute’s Prostate Cancer Appeal – some 30,000 plus men are affected with the disease every year and some 14,000 die.

This year’s run, jog or walk has already been supported by Bristol-based charity, the James Tudor Foundation, and it’s hoped to double the number of participants to more than a thousand. Last year’s event raised more than £60,000 for vital research.

Ian Beattie, the event co-ordinator, says the 2007 Run is one for the whole family and many family groups have already registered online on www.runforthefuture.org

“Run for the Future is about providing hope – for the men who suffer from the disease and for their families. We hope it will become a major regional initiative and eventually we want it to become a national appeal,” said Ian.

“We’re delighted to be able to link up with Frank Water to provide refreshments for the runners – every litre of water bought in the UK provides over 200 litres of safe drinking water at Frank projects in developing countries.”
