Corporate Challenge
Corporate Challenge
A team of runners from a Bristol commercial law firm has thrown down a corporate challenge to other companies in the City to compete in Run for the Future.
The 5km event, which is organised by Bristol Rotarians, takes place on the Downs in Bristol on Sunday 7 September and Beachcroft says they’re ready to take on all-comers to prove who is the best corporate team.
Money raised during the Run for the Future, which this year is sponsored by the Spire Hospital, goes to the BUI Bristol Prostate Cancer Appeal. This is used to fund vital research into the early diagnosis and treatment of a disease which claims the lives of more than 10,000 men in the UK every year.
Beachcroft, who have sponsored the event in previous years, plan to have at least 15 runners taking part in next month’s Run.
“This event is a great opportunity for local businesses to support a worthwhile cause and raise awareness of prostate cancer,” said Michael Bothamley, Beachcroft’s regional senior partner. “We hope that other large employers will join us on the day to help build on the run’s previous success.”
Despite the fact that more than 35,000 men in the UK get prostate cancer every year there is no national screening programme on the NHS. Men have to ask their GP’s for a PSA blood test to get checked out, but early diagnosis greatly improves the chances of successful treatment.
