They deserve a medal.....

Riding a gong on the crest of a wave…..

A North Somerset scout troop proved they were more than prepared when they answered an SOS from organisers of this year’s Run for the Future, which takes place in Bristol on Sunday, 7 September.

The 1st Nailsea Wednesday troop wouldn’t even accept a bob a job when they re-placed the lanyards on more than 1,000 medals, which will be handed out to competitors completing the 5km Run in aid of the BUI Bristol Prostate Cancer Appeal.

Martina Peattie, the past President of Bristol Rotary who organise Run for the Future, said: “The scouts were absolutely fantastic and completed the job in no time at all. It means we can use medals left over from last year’s event, saving money which can go to the appeal.”

The first two events raised more than £100,000, which is now being used to fund vital research into the early detection and treatment of a disease that claims the life of around 14,000 men in the UK every year.
